GoalElevate the priority of children on the global HIV/AIDS agenda.
Approach
  • With CIFF funding, the Global AIDS Alliance has played a critical role in leveraging political will and financial resources for paediatric HIV/AIDS. Specifically, the organisation was instrumental in ensuring the $35.4 billion re-authorisation of PEPFAR HIV/AIDS funding, which sets a target of ensuring that 80% of pregnant women in high prevalence countries have access to HIV counselling and testing and ARV treatment for prevention of mother-to-child transmission.
  • With GAA’s lobbying, PEPFAR is close to achieving GAA’s recommended target of ensuring that at least 15% of those receiving ARV therapy are children under the age of 15.
Investment$1.1 million to GAA.
Scope2.1 million children, aged 0-15 years, living with HIV/AIDS worldwide.
