The 2050 pathway platform is a multi-stakeholder initiative launched at COP 22. It will seek to support countries and non-state actors in sharing resources, knowledge and best practice to provide a framework for constructive multi-stakeholder deep decarbonisation planning, in line with 1.5 degrees.

The objective of the Platform is to support countries, states, regions, cities and companies seeking to devise long-term, net zero-greenhouse gas, climate- resilient and sustainable development pathways.

Impact

There is an urgent need to increase the climate ambition to keep global temperature increase well below 2°C and to aim for 1.5°C. Deep decarbonisation planning to 2050 is integral to delivering this.

As of February 2017, 26 countries, 15 cities, 17 regions and states, and 192 companies joined the platform since it launched November 2016.
