India has some of the most progressive child protection laws.

However the enforcement systems have struggled to ensure justice for children. Crimes against children are rarely reported and conviction rates are below 1%.

There is, therefore, a need to work closely with the child protection institutions and help strengthen them. Capacity building of stakeholders and effective tracking and monitoring systems on the ground can help improve the situation.

Impact

This investment will help ensure that all the decentralized institutional systems for child protection are fully operational, capable and well monitored. As a result children will be protected and will have easy access to justice when in need.
