Digital Academy on Low-Carbon Power Systems
Multiple countries – Global
To educate and train power sector players through an e-learning platform, and real-world case studies, to accelerate the transition to a cleaner, global power sector.
$982,603 Multi-Year Grant Value
This grant is part of CIFF's Power Sector Decarbonisation Strategy.
To achieve the power sector emissions reductions required, countries need widespread confidence that power sector transformation is technically feasible, cost-effective, and in their countries' best interest. They also need the knowledge to understand how to increase and accelerate clean energy deployment, and ensure that power sector reforms apply best-in-class policy and operational solutions at required scale and speed to be truly transformational.
To date, CIFF has been teaming with technical experts to provide technical assistance in major emerging economies (e.g. China, India, Indonesia, Mexico, and Vietnam). This work is critical for shifting major emitters and demonstrating how to do power sector transformation. However, this work is not being codified, nor is it available to everyone who needs to access it.
The Digital Academy on Low-Carbon Power Systems will be housed at the Grantham Institute, Imperial College and implemented jointly with other, external partners. It is designed to capture and disseminate best-practice power sector reform policies for use by key power sector stakeholders, as well as house the information in a user-friendly way so a broad, lay audience can access it.
Centralised resources and support, such as can be provided by the Digital Academy on Low-Carbon Power Systems, would enable the expansion of assistance and practitioner insight to those in need of support in a cost-effective way.
