Ed is the Director responsible for CIFF’s Global Energy Systems portfolio including our global work on oil and gas, methane, heavy industry and the power sector, and our geographic lead for Europe and Mexico.

Prior to joining CIFF in 2022, he held a range of roles in the UK government helping to establish the Committee on Climate Change, the Powering Past Coal Alliance and the UK’s first Green Finance Strategy. He was also Chief of Staff to two Ministers for Climate Change, worked for Octopus Renewables and led the Foreign Office’s climate change programme in Argentina for 3 years.

Ed holds an MSc Politics, Philosophy and Economics from Oxford University and an MBA from Imperial College.
