Theo Mitchell

Theo is Global Director, Climate at Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), where his role is to drive excellence across CIFF’s Climate portfolio, which includes more than $1 billion in active grants and investments across multiple geographies, sectors and tactical approaches. Working with CIFF’s key partners, Theo provides strategic oversight across CIFF’s Climate portfolio operations, performance and coherence, ensuring the portfolio is high quality, evidence-led and positioned to deliver ambitious impact.

Prior to joining CIFF in 2020, Theo spent more than a decade working on international climate policy, including roles in the European Parliament, UK local government, Carbon Capture and Storage Association (CCSA), and working as Climate Change Specialist at development NGO, Azafady, in the Anosy region of Madagascar. He also spent close to 4 years working as an independent climate policy and strategy consultant, where his clients included Bellona Europa, Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership, the EU Corporate Leaders Group, the Oil and Gas Climate Initiative (OGCI) and the UK Parliamentary Renewable and Sustainable Energy Group (PRASEG). Theo is Chair of the Meliore Foundation Advisory Board, a Member of the Ditchley Programme Committee, a member of the Climate Neutrality Foundation Advisory Board, and a Trustee of the Climate Emergency Collaboration Group (CECG).
