What role does Europe’s climate leadership play in driving global climate action in today’s world?

This was the central question we explored yesterday at “Why Europe, Why Now” – CIFF’s London Climate Action Week event with leading voices from across the climate community, and hosted by our Executive Director for Climate, Sonia Medina.

Our CEO Kate Hampton and ECF’s Laurence Tubiana reflected on the legacy of the Paris Agreement – and how a ‘Paris moment’ in an era of global uncertainty requires a renewed focus on implementation, public engagement and localisation that brings society, not just states, to the centre of climate progress.

The panel discussion spotlighted a powerful opportunity: now is the time for European funders to step up, invest with confidence, and help drive the transition from ambition to action.

A big thank you to our brilliant panellists Jane Burston (Clean Air Fund), Marcelo Mena (Global Methane Hub) and Rhian-Mari Thomas OBE (Green Finance Institute), and our moderator Theo Mitchell (CIFF).
